Assembly creation and adding takeoff items

Creating an assembly in BLDON for takeoff purposes involves grouping together multiple components or items that form a complex unit or system. Assemblies allow you to manage and estimate the cost and quantity of interconnected elements efficiently. Here's how to create an assembly in the takeoff section of BLDON.

Benefits of Creating Assemblies:

· Simplified Takeoff: Instead of manually selecting and measuring individual components, assemblies allow you to group related elements together for quicker and easier takeoffs.

· Consistency: Once an assembly is created, it can be reused across different projects, ensuring consistency in your estimates and material usage.

· Accurate Cost Estimation: When linked with cost data, assemblies enable more accurate cost calculations by automatically including the associated components and quantities.

1. Click create to create assembly

2. Add name of the assembly to identify correctly

3. Select the list from the drop down (These are created in the assemblies' section of material management as discussed earlier)

4. Click add to create the assembly.

· The Assembly dialog box appears with assembly material details.

· Click next to view the identifier and select the material and identifier. Click next

· Select the takeoff type (Linear, Area etc.) and select vendor and labor productivity and click next.

· View the characteristics of the material and click Add.

· Assembly is now created to be used in the takeoff.

More options available that can be customized

1. An add option is available in the Assembly material section where new materials can also be added which was not added in the material management section.

2. Detach option is also available in case to delete any materials. Click on the material and then select detach

3. Reset option is also available to reset the materials already selected

4. Clicking on these opens update takeoff dialog box where the characteristics of the measured area or linear measurement can be edited.

· Clicking on calculation shows the calculated takeoff.

· Characteristics gives the information of the characteristics applied which can be edited.

Understanding of using one assembly on several pages

· We can use the same assembly created, on various pages

· Just click on the takeoff item and start the measurement.

Understanding of using several assemblies on one page

· Several assemblies can be used on a single page

· Example interior and exterior can be used on a single page

Editing the Assemblies

· Editing is quite simple. Just press the setting icon next to the assembly's name to edit.

· Click the copy button next to the setting icon to copy the assembly

· Click delete button to delete the assembly

Creating takeoff Conditions to measure the quantities

Creating takeoff conditions in BLDON refers to setting specific rules or parameters that govern how measurements are taken from your project drawings. These conditions help ensure accurate and consistent data collection for estimating quantities, costs, and materials. Takeoff conditions define how different types of measurements or materials are handled, depending on the unique aspects of the project.

Steps to create takeoff

1. Click Add Takeoff

2. Enter takeoff name

3. Select the assembly from the dropdown menu that is already created in the assembly section. or material directly.

4. Select the measurement type

5. Select the fill color and Color

6. Enter the location. This will be useful while deriving takeoff estimate

7. Enter the label for identification

8. If change order (Revision) applies enter the name (e.g. Change order 01)

9. Select a Category if necessary (Doors, Windows etc)

10. Page references (Page numbers) can be added manually – It helps in quote formation

11. Add description if any and Click add.
